Peter & Katalina are wonderful hosts. Katalina would have homemade ' snacks' to take on my daily trips. The room is large and with a special bonus of a hot tub overlooking the bay of islands. After a day of exploring, hiking etc coming back to the tranquility of that room and hot tub was amazing. I would highly recommend Tarlton's lodge for anyone staying in the by of islands.

Peter & Katarina were such amazing hosts. We found ourselves in Paihia without accommodation. We just showed up & lucky for we found a little slice of paradise. Great room very comfy King size bed, private patio with a nice view of the Bay of Islands. To top it off a private hot tub on our patio & Air conditioning, that allowed us to have a good night’s sleep. Check out Tarlton’s lodge if you’re in Paihia

A little escape in Paihai Bay of Islands
Firstly, the location is to die for, it’s an escape within an escape. The hosts Peter and Katalina were very warming professional and accommodating. Our room was serviced daily and meticulously. We were provided with water and coke in the fridge, home made cookies that were replenished daily along with tea and coffee (multiple ways). The bed and linens were fresh and a delight to return to at the end of each day. The towel warming rack in the bathroom is also a nice touch and the rain head nozzle to shower with is also very nice. We can recommend a stay here. You will not regret it.

A great apartment with a great view and spa in a beautiful, beautiful place.
A really lovely cozy, clean, quiet place with a great view and a great hot tub. Hosts were super helpful and accommodating, but left us our privacy as well. The area is fantastic; we were there for three days and nights, and had nowhere near enough time to see and do it all. The only thing to know is that it’s about a twenty minute walk (or a 5 minute drive?) into town to eat or go to the beach. We like to walk, so we spent a fair bit of time walking back and forth. The hosts provided snacks including cookies, so we ended up eating in town about twice per day, and just brought a couple of bottles of wine back to the room to enjoy at night. Highly recommend!

Gracious hosts‼️
We had a wonderful visit to Tarleton Lodge. Peter & Katalina were gracious hosts and made us feel very welcome at the lodge. Rooms were very nice and the hot tubs made for a great ending to the day. Peter saved the day when he shuttled us down to town when our cab was late‼️

slightly hidden gem
Nestled in an upper class neighborhood, unbelievable pearl of a place. Even with the many outstanding places to see and things to do, Tarlton’s stands out. EVERYthing was great from arrival and greeting by host couple to departure. Luxury but comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the private hot tub with the view over the northeast section of the Bay of Islands. Large bathroom with rain and hand held shower heads with heated towel rack. The hosts were eager to take care of us and I didn’t feel bad about using
multiple towels. High quality amenities refreshed daily. Feel free to message for more details.

A perfect place to get away
Wonderful relaxing stay at Tarleton's Lodge. My husband and I enjoyed the peacefulness of the location, proximity to everything we wanted to do, and the beautiful views from the balcony. The hot tub overlooking the water was a great way to unwind at the end of each day. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed chatting with our hosts and appreciated the little extras they thought of- the homemade cookies in the room were an especially welcomed treat!

An experience I’ll never forget! Absolutely stunning and relaxing staying here- We didn’t want to leave! The owners/host were super welcoming and pleasant. Amazing views from the spa. Comfiest bed. Comes with little nibbles, water, instant coffee, Tv and air conditioner ect. Luxurious bathroom with shampoo, conditioner, soap and shower caps included. Property was very close to central paihia where there’s amazing restaurants, tours ect. Would definitely stay here again, a beautiful experience!!

Peaceful and relaxing getaway
We had a very relaxing few days at Tarlton’s Lodge. Everything we required was laid on. The views across the bay are stunning anytime of the day, and it is very tranquil. It’s around a 15 mins walk into Paihia’s shopping and restaurant area, or a five-minute drive. The owners live onsite and they made us feel very welcome. I’m sure like us, you will enjoy your stay here.

Privacy was great, room was amazing, chocolate, drinks n cookies were lovely touches and you didn’t have to pay for them. Great night away for me and husband to spoil ourselves. Definitely be back again

The perfect getaway!
Spent and incredible weekend at Tarlton lodge, it was as advertised and more! Room was cosy and comfortable with every amenity you could ask for as well as few extra and much appreciated touches. Bed was especially good, and we had best night sleep we’ve had in ages. The private hot tub and view are the icing on the cake and exceeded our expectations. Rain or shine you can enjoy the totally private and peaceful setting, and we certainly did that. Peter and Katalina were great hosts and made us feel very welcome and well taken care of during our stay.
Overall, a perfect getaway and highly recommended.

Privacy, View, Spa, and Romance
Great room, wonderful view, personal spa bath, and the Bay of Islands. What more do you need? BUT you also get Peter and Katalina, the best host and hostess.
This spot is private. Our room had an entrance shared with no others. No one could see you in the room or on the deck. The wall overlooking the bay was full glass though so you have the view in the posted photo. My consort found it very romantic!

The best accommodation in Paihia
Wonderful hosts welcomed us to our own private oasis, overlooking the water and with a beautifully serene spa to use. Comfortable bed and furnishings and thoughtful touches like refrigerated water and cookies made our stay extra special.

Peaceful Escape

Uniquely styled decor with a Pasifika touch was very welcoming and warm. And the spa pool was the kicker - a beautiful vista to behold of the Bay below.
Peter and Katalina were so hospitable and accommodating. It was so lovely to converse with them and it was a shame our time was limited; their well-traveled life journey is worth hearing leading them to their final destination - their story is interwoven into this amazing retreat in Paihia. And the huge home-made cookies... suffice to say there wasn't even a crumb left. Highly recommend

Best getaway
I loved the hot tub and the bed was so comfortable the best sleep ive had in ages the hosts were so nice defiantly want to stay again and loved the free snacks and better coffee then most motels. Sad that I didn’t stay longer

Fabulous in the truest sense of the word
Our host Peter was so welcoming when we arrived.
He greeted us, then took us down to our cozy, private studio room where a hot spa with a spectacular view of the Bay of Islands awaited us.
The room was beautifully decorated (I loved the Victorian lamps!) and felt very sumptuous and decadent.
Wonderful walk-in wet room, with a luxurious rain head shower. I loved that there were good quality toiletries provided, and plenty of towels, plus waffle robes in the closet.
Tea and coffee machine, and drinks/snacks were made available to us.
Comfortable bed, with good quality linens. Heat pump/air conditioner.
Our room was lovely and we noted how impeccably clean it was, both inside and the outside area around the spa were spotless.
The spa water was CRYSTAL clear which is important as in other places we've stayed, it has not been. This was a real sign to us that the owners take great pride in what they do.
It's a 1 minute drive to town and there are taxis to get you home from the numerous wonderful restaurants and bars safely.
These folks have gone to great trouble to present a cozy, private and romantic retreat for couples to relax and enjoy a break from the world.
We had a wonderful stay and would love to return again.

Peter & Katalina were fantastic hosts. They helped us with our luggage both on arrival and when we left at 6.30 in the morning. The room was cleaned, and the towels changed every day. Thank you both for a lovely place to stay.

Fabulous couples anniversary stay
Thanks so much Peter and Katalina for a fabulous stay at Tarltons Lodge over looking the sunny Bay of Islands.
We had a fantastic time staying in our King bed suite with a private alfresco dining area and private spa. We loved how well appointed the room was and the complimentary drinks and cookies.
The room is very well dressed and very clean.
The private spa and views from the alfresco dining area are divine. And getting up to watch the sunrise and have an early morning spa is well worth it!
Our stay was worth every dollar!
Peter and Katalina offer the best kept secret for a luxury stay in Paihia.

What a Treat. A wonderful spot - amazing view, private spa pool, private comfortable room. Lovely big rain shower. Very quiet, peaceful and private. The perfect place to stay for a romantic getaway. The spa pool on our private deck was definitely a highlight. Peter and Katalina were very welcoming and friendly.

Best view in town. Stayed here for one night, absolutely loved it. Room was clean, and probably the tidiest and most well maintained spa tub I've been in. View was amazing, total privacy. No cooking facilities however cutlery was provided and plenty of various coffees and teas. 2mins to Paihia town. Owners were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.

This place is a hidden gem nestled in beautiful paiha. This place combines elegance with amazing customer service with a view to die for. Everything is very clean, bed is super comfortable and the linen is also very clean… The shower is awesome . The hot tub is crystal clear and so clean, after a day of adventuring and being out on the saltwater the investment of getting the private hot tub really pays off . Warm , inviting and since it is an adults only, it's quite and super relaxing. If you need to get away from your busy schedule, life, or your children or just need a break this place is for you. We will be booking again for our 13 yr anniversary or fingers crossed before then

A PIECE OF PRIVATE PARADISE OVERLOOKING THE BAY
An amazing birthday stay for my wife. Hosts Peter and Katrina are lovely and friendly and have created an amazing, luxury experience for those who want time to experience just being. Enjoying a spa looking out over the Bay on your private balcony is such a relaxing experience and be in the moment. Paihia centre a short walk away where restaurants provide variety in menu and cost. Taxi back if you don't want to walk back up the hill. Standard of room, cleanliness, attention to detail and amenity is very high indeed. Highly recommended for a special break or use as a base for touring in the area.

Our weekend was worth more than 5 stars. The room was luxurious as were the bathroom and balcony. Morning views were exceptional. Peter and Katalina were the best hosts and we will definitely be back.

The view was amazing, the room was so clean, and the bed was super comfortable 😍, we had our own spa pool outside our room looking out to the ocean view, the staff were super friendly and very welcoming, i would definitely stay here again, and I would definitely recommend staying here. ❤

EXCEPTIONAL WEEKEND AWAY
Five star room with a five star view from both the room and the private spa. This is pure luxury from the bathroom to the decadently dressed comfy bed. We loved the little touches like couples’ chocolates and handmade cookies. Peter and Catalina were very welcoming hosts who have created a warm and luxurious environment for a private stay.
We highly recommend Tarltons Lodge for a romantic getaway or for the distinguished travelers wanting privacy with luxury touches.

Die beiden sind tolle Gastgeber, die sich sehr individuell auf uns eingestellt haben (z.B. vegetarisches Frühstück für meine Frau, was nicht selbstverständlich ist in Neuseeland). Zusätzlich darf man hier nach unzähligen Touren und Strapazen, den kleinen „Value Add“ Luxus genießen: eine Rainshower Dusche, aufgewärmte Handtücher (!), einen 37 Grad Whirlpool und generell feine Materialien. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und den Aufenthalt genossen.

The two are great hosts, who are very individual to us (e.g. vegetarian breakfast for my wife, which is not a matter of course in New Zealand). In addition, after countless tours and exertions, you can enjoy the little "Value Add" luxury: a rain shower, heated towels (!), A 37 degree whirlpool and generally fine materials. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

STUNNING VIEW
This beautiful accommodation is very well appointed with top quality furnishings, bed-linen and towels . Peter and Katalina are most welcoming hosts and provided lots of information about the area, restaurants, activities etc. A superb breakfast is laid out on your individual terrace each morning and you will not leave hungry! Fresh fruit and cookies are always available. The private hot tub on each terrace is a wonderful way to relax after a busy day. The price to be paid for the amazing view is a short but rather steep climb up the hill from the town if you are on foot but some restaurants provide courtesy cars.

The host and hostess are super sweet. Can tell a lot about the environment and are very caring. The room is clean, nice extras such as fruit and biscuits. Refrigerator available. As well as coffee and tea. Breakfast is delicious with plenty of choice. The view of the room is phenomenal!! And then the Jacuzzi... Oh, my God. That's the pinnacle of indulgence. We'll definitely be back when we go back to New Zealand.

INCREDIBLE HOSPITALITY AND HILLTOP VIEW
My husband and I spent two nights at Tarlton's Lodge as part of a month-long tour of New Zealand. The lodge resembles a modern, spacious home, with three guest units located below the owners' living quarters, high in the hills overlooking the village of Paihia. Our guest room was lovely and hosts Peter and Katalina were most gracious. We enjoyed a delicious, made-to-order breakfast each morning, at a table on our private patio overlooking Paihia and the Bay of Islands. At night, we relaxed in a heated spa, located on our patio so we could star gaze as we soaked and sipped wine! We stayed at a lot of places during our visit, and Tarlton's was the most memorable!

TRANQUILITY AND SERENITY AT ITS BEST
My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights at Tarlton's Lodge over a wedding weekend with family. The rooms are spacious and the views breath-taking over the bay. Peter and Katalina were excellent hosts and looked after us very well. The breakfasts were of the highest standard throughout. Hot spa was delightful after long days in the beautiful sun. It was an ideal rest pad away from main streets and traffic. Highly recommended for any traveller wanting to relax away from home.

OUTSTANDING VIEW, OUTSTANDING HOSPITALITY
This property sits on a hill overlooking Paihia and, in the distance, Russell, in the Bay of Islands. It consists of a private home (for the owners) and three separate accommodation units on the ground floor. Each unit has a hot tub and a separate entrance, great views and is quite private. It is only a short walk down the hill to Paihia, which is an activity hub for enjoying and exploring the Bay of Islands. The owners are delightful, well travelled and happy to give tips on how you might make your stay enjoyable including recommendations of places to eat. Breakfast is served on your private terrace and is delicious. We enjoyed our three night stay immensely!

My wife and I stayed at Tarton's Lodge, we were greeted with smiles and love, the most wonderful and loving host, we would wake up to our choice of delicious breakfast sitting on own private balcony looking out onto the beautiful views of Bay of Island, not forgetting your very own private spa pool, such a beautiful and most of all very clean place. This has got to be the BEST trip, thanks to Tarton's Lodge and it's host Peter & Katalina. HIGHLY Recommend!

CHERRY ON TOP OF SUNDAE
We started our tour of New Zealand at the south end & stayed at many wonderful accommodations along the way but nothing was like the Tarltons Lodge. Upon arrival Peter greeted us & sent me inside to meet Katalina. The views took my breath away & a I was speechless. Our private room had the same incredible view with a hot tub. Our choice of breakfast the next two mornings were wonderful especially the incredible French toast. Tarlton’s lodge was like the cherry on top of the sundae - very special.

AN ABSOLUTE MUST!
Tarlton's Lodge was the most amazing place that we stayed in the whole of our time in New Zealand. An absolute treat to ourselves, budget wise but so glad we booked it. The views are spectacular and sat enjoying them from your own private hot tub, makes it even better! Peter and Katarina are so welcoming and friendly throughout the whole stay and very happy to share local knowledge. They have really thought about what is needed in the rooms and there are some very thoughtful touches just to make it that extra special. The breakfast is not over exagurated on the earlier reviews; it is all delicious and the service that is provided to allow you to step out on to the balcony with it all ready is a real treat! Nice room, warm and lovely hosts, great breakfast
Peter and Catalina could not have been better hosts. The room is lovely--I cannot imagine a place with a better view! The bed was comfortable, and everything in the room worked perfectly.
My husband and I are vegan, and we were provided with a beautiful, hot breakfast both mornings. We appreciate this very much, as usually black coffee and fruit are the only things we can eat at most hotel's breakfasts. Peter and Catalina really went out of their way to ensure we were well fed.
The setting and facilities of this lodge are wonderful, but I think it is the service that really the best part of Tarlton's Lodge.

FANTASTIC - MUST STAY
My wife and I recently stayed at Tarlton's Lodge for 2 nights during a driving holiday of north NZ. The pictures did not do the view justice - Absolutely amazing. The room was everything one would expect for a luxury stay. Natasha was our host whilst her parents were away and really made us feel right at home. The breakfasts are just as stunning and enjoyed on the patio overlooking the Bay. Natasha suggested a couple of restaurants which also didn't disappoint. Of all the places we stayed in NZ Tarlton's Lodge is the one that stood out. Thanks again Natasha

Beautiful Place
Highly recommend Tarltons Lodge. We arrived late and were very kindly greeted by Peter who showed us to our room. Absolutely no complaints about the room, clean, immaculate, comfortable bed, everything was perfect. Not to mention the spa!!! Beautiful!! and the view is amazing.
Then we were provided a yummy breakfast! Recommend the french toast!

We were looking for a nice quiet, quality restful location to spend a night in Paihia for our wedding anniversary. The room looked beautiful on the website and it did not disappoint. Private spa on our private balcony with magnificent view over the Bay of Islands. Luxurious bedding. Soft fluffy bath towels and a dream shower. Every little nicety you could ask for including large complimentary fresh fruit bowl. Friendly hosts who delivered a delicious breakfast to our room. Looking forward to another visit in the near future!

We’ve just spent three days at Tarlton’s and leave refreshed and ready to re-engage with life in “the big smoke”. Our hosts were welcoming and remained attentive and generous throughout our stay. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfasts served on our private balcony were marvellous - beautifully fresh ingredients, generous portions. And what a setting, a tranquil water view, NZ bush in the foreground, birdsong to bookend the day...just idyllic

“The view is SPECTACULAR.
The hosts are incredibly attentive and helpful, but also very much respect your privacy. I was a bit worried about paying so much and thought it might not live up to it, but WOW, did it ever. I definitely feel like it was worth it. Breakfasts were AMAZING, we tried all but the French toast, all were EXCELLENT. I was really impressed by the muesli option too.. the fruit platter itself was to die for, and the homemade museli was delicious. Spa/hot tub is just brilliant and lovely to have. Did I mention THE VIEW!? They also helped us book an island trip which we really really appreciated since we were a bit burnt out at the end of our trip and appreciated them helping to call and book the ferries, and even offered to give us a ride downtown (but that's only a 10ish minute walk so it's super easy (though steep just as an FYI). Parking on-site, wifi, TV (though we didn't use that), and all the amenities you'd find in a hotel, plus more. We had fresh cookies and milk upon arrival! Overall I HIGHLY recommend this location, it's SO VERY MUCH worth the price, and some.”

A lovely place with great hosts...
Stayed 3 nights in February of this year. Great and very clean apartment with it’s own outside space and hot tub, with an amazing view. Breakfast was included and there was a good selection of freshly made food that you selected on a daily basis. I am not the most talkative person in the morning (!) so the fact that breakfast was served on your private veranda at a time of your choice allowed me to indulge my anti-social preferences at that time of the day. My husband thought the french toast was so good that he had it 2 days in a row. Peter and Katalina who own Tarlton’s Lodge could not have been more gracious hosts. They were extremely helpful and friendly with lots of good suggestions and we were particularly grateful that despite having turned up ludicrously early before offical check in time as we had just driven up from Auckland airport having flown in from the UK that morning, they went out of their way to get our room serviced first so we could come back soon afterwards and have a shower! If you are visting Paihia/Bay of Islands I would recommend staying here.

The Lodge is located on a hill above Paihia, but there is a sidewalk which made us feel safe and the climb turned out to be a great calorie burner after dinner or excursions to town. Most importantly, the Lodge's location gives it privacy, peace and outstanding views. We experienced nearly total quiet during our stay except for the beautiful bird songs in the morning. The room was an adequate size for us as a couple and we were pleasantly surprised to find a fridge, wine glasses and plates provided, as well as provisions for tea/coffee including homemade cookies. Everything was also immaculately clean. Breakfasts had generous portions and were high quality. Parking spots are kindly designated for each room but are a little tight; we were able to manage to fit in OK with a full size sedan but I could see that a full size SUV or ute might be a challenge. Hosts Peter and Catalina were great and able to provide helpful advice such as warning us that the farmer's market our guidebook said was on Sunday was actually on Saturday! Would recommend staying here to anyone

We were celebrating our 30th wedding annIversary and Tarltons Lodge met all our criteria and more.
The room was homely and spotless. The view was stunning. It is away from the main road so you have the peace and quite, but only a 10 minute walk to the major areas. Our hosts Peter and Katalina were very friendly and helpful. My husband and I highly recommend Tarltons Lodge.

Relaxing Time at Tarltons Lodge
Stayed here for 2 nights during our 3 week trip in NZ. Room 1 was our destination, we had our own designated Parking Space and direct access to Room. Peter was very efficient showing us around, information folder is very beneficial and offering to help with any outings we wanted to arrange.
Our room was really comfortable with lots of little touches that made it extra special. Time in the spa was a must and very relaxing with a glass of Wine after a day out.
Breakfast served on the patio was a lovely touch but would maybe have liked a bit more variety and wider timeslot.

Peaceful and highly enjoyable
My husband and I stayed at Tarltons Lodge for five nights from 3rd January. Peter and Katalina couldn’t have been more welcoming. The room was spotless and had everything we needed. Very quiet location with a heavenly view. Cookies, chocolate treats, tea, coffee, fresh milk and filtered water were supplied daily. Peter organised a trip for us and recommended restaurants, walks etc. This lodge certainly has a personal touch. Lovely genuine people and an idyllic location. Highly recommended.

Breathtaking views to wake up to every morning
We had a wonderful 4 nights stay. Hosts Peter & Katalina were very accomodating & made us feel very welcome. Breakfast each morning was prepared & served on the deck overlooking the beautiful islands of the region. The food was freshly prepared & very delicious! The room was well equipped with a comfy king bed, separate ensuite & separate dressing area which also provided a small fridge with fresh milk & chilled water together with jug & coffee/tea & fresh biscuits each day. little touches which add to the overall experience. We had a lovely stay with Peter and Katalina. The room was large with a comfy bed. We were pleased that there were 2 arm chairs as so many hotels only have one chair! The outdoor spa tub was heaven after a long day playing tourist. The breakfast on our patio was a great way to start the day especially Katalina's omelette! Lastly the view - WOW just beautiful! Thank you Peter and Katalina for all of the information from a locals viewpoint and for making us feel special.

Honeymoon Experience
This was the second-best highlight of our trip to New Zealand! The first, was Peter’s (owner of Talton’s) insistence we do the Bay of Islands Ferry Tour! My breakfast was delightful and the view was absolutely breathtaking! Thank you Peter and Katalina!

Fantastic Place – we didn’t want to leave
We stayed at Tarlton’s lodge as part of a longer three week trip.It was the perfect place to relax and unwind.
We arrived quite early in the day and were welcomed by Peter. Fortunately the room was ready and we were able to check in with no additional charge.
The minute we saw our room you could tell Tarlton’s Lodge was run by Peter and his wife Katalina with love and care for their guests.
The accommodation was spotless; furnished with a stylish and homely style. Touches like fresh milk and home made cookies just added and extra something.
But the star of the accommodation is the view. The perfect place to relax in our private hot tub, sip wine on the terrace whilst looking at the stars.
A perfectly romantic place under the care of Peter abs Katalina.
We can’t wait to go back!

Peter, about the detour you suggested today…we did come across Sandy Bay which was perfect stop for a beach walk. We did take another detour and ended up at Pakiri beach, spectacular!!!
We’ve arrived at Plume Villas near Matakana. They look to be brand new and are lovely but they don’t have the personal touch. Bill is missing his cookies :-)!
Anyway, thanks again for such a great stay, hopefully one day our paths will cross again.

We loved the view so much! Amazing location over looking Paihia and Russell. Clean and tidy. Spacious rooms. Comfy bed and breakfast by the patio in the morning. Most of all, the hot tub! Amazing! The hosts were so nice and accommodating. They really go out of their way to make sure that you’re looked after and make sure that you’ve got everything you need. Lovely couple with a very interesting love story. Worth a drink and a chat if you have time :)

Amazing space for visitors - separate from the hosts home but they are there if required. The deck with bar table to eat, and the spa overlooking the bay and giving the most incredible views is somewhere you could sit for hours

Sure my headline is mathematical nonsense, but a) I don't care and b) never been good at maths.
So to make a long Story short: If you, like we did, decide to spend a few days in the bay of Islands area of New Zealand then we can only recommend Tarltons Lodge.
Sure nature, views and landscapes are important but your experience heavily depends on how your stay at your lodge/Hotel etc works out.
And Boy was it good.
Arriving at Tarltons we were welcomed by the host Peter, his wife Katalina and their daughter Natasha.
Peter introduced us to all things to see and do in the area and handed us a catalogue with maps, Flyers etc.
So we were all set for exploring.
Breakfast Service was exceptional...unfortunately I wasn't able to get a taste of Katalina's famous French toast but my girlfriend did and she absolutely loved it.
I wasn't able to get a taste because of some stomach issues I got after eating out in a Restaurant in the area.
Which leads me to the 10 out of 5 Service:
Peter offered to take me to a doctor and gave me some medicine. And luckily the medicine was good enough to solve my Problems.
But then an even bigger Problem occurred: nature.
A summer storm haunted the area and lead to an power outage, which also hit Tarltons Lodge.
But still Peter and his Family did everything in their power to make the stay an enjoyable one. They even got us coffee for breakfast from some place in town because even the coffee machine didn't work.
So thanks to Peter and his Family...even the downs were nullified by the hospitality and if we come back we will definitely stay there again. :

A stay here is highly recommended!
Pros: Everything was perfect, Clean, Spotless, Warm and friendly welcome.
Cons: Nothing at all, It was paradise!
Waking up in paradise, Was definitely what we got! We had absolutely stunning views from our room, from in the room to the spa the views made it extra special not to mention the lovely breakfast watching the sunrise, PRICELESS. The room was so spacious and spotlessly clean. The family looking after us were so lovely.

Wir haben fast am Ende unserer viermonatigen Weltreise zwei Nächte in der Tarlton‘s lodge verbracht und wir haben es in vollen Zügen genossen. Wir wurden sehr herzlich von Natasha empfangen und der Spa war vorgeheizt. Wir haben den Pool beide Abende benutzt und konnten uns kaum satt sehen an der schönen Aussicht. Das Bett war sehr bequem und wir haben wunderbar geschlafen. Das Frühstück war mit viel Liebe zubereitet und wurde auf der Terasse serviert. Das einzige, was wir anmerken wollen: man ist nicht ganz privat auf der Terasse, da sie nicht komplett getrennt ist von den anderen Zimmern. Uns hat es aber nicht gross gestört.
Almost at the end of our four-month trip around the world, we spent two nights in Tarlton's lodge and enjoyed it to the fullest. We were warmly welcomed by Natasha and the spa was preheated. We used the pool both evenings and could barely get enough of the beautiful view. The bed was very comfortable and we slept wonderfully. The breakfast was prepared with love and was served on the terrace.
The only thing we want to say: it is not completely private on the terrace, as it is not completely separate from the other rooms. But it did not bother us much.
MANAGEMENT NOTE: NOVEMBER 2018 - PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE EXTENDED THE WALLS SEPARATING THE TERRACE TO AFFORD COMPLETE PRIVACY OF THE SPA AND BREAKFAST TABLE ON THE TERRACE IN FRONT OF EACH ROOM.

Best Stay Ever
Stayed as the last part of our tour of New Zealand and it was just fabulous!!. The most amazing location and view you could wish for. The host as were just so nice and welcoming, great hot tub with an ocean view. Breakfast served on our own balcony. If you want a nice luxurious stay with an amazing view then look no further!.

We have had a busy season this year, meeting lots of interesting travelers from all over the world: France, Germany, Denmark, Finland, England, Scotland, Italy, Switzerland, Romania, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, South Africa, from all over the USA & Canada; locals from New Zealand and Australians from across the Tasman, ....all with interesting stories to tell.
After the first night's rest, following breakfast on the terrace fronting their room, many of our guests tell us they wished they could have stayed longer. After their hectic and often stressful time transitioning from an overseas flight to a car rental including the drive up from Auckland or further: Rotorua, or Tauranga, the peace and quiet and the overwhelming sea & island view from their room at Tarltons Lodge is just what they need to fully relax. During the height of the season we are nearly fully booked, so if you are booking for next season, keep in mind you might wish you had booked an extra day or two.
We go out of our way to ensure our guests enjoy their visit to the Bay of Islands and while here, feel like Tarltons Lodge is their home away from home. The degree of our success is measured in our guest’s reviews. These reviews, pasted below, you can find on Trip Advisor, Booking.com and Expedia.

Peter and Katalina are perfect hosts and have a perfect spot in the Bay of Islands.
It is nice and relaxing, away from the main road so very quiet, but still close enough to walk to town in only 10 minutes.

Incredible views, room and gorgeous breakfast
We had the best time @ Tarlton's Lodge, Peter and Catalina were very good hosts, with lots of info and suggestions available. The room with en-suite has a direct view to the bay, you just step on your patio and there's an amazing view waiting. Extremely clean, attention to details and a great breakfast provided. A place you really look forward to return to at the end of a sightseeing day and that invites you to be a bit lazy in the morning - the view from the bed could justify just that. Thank you Peter and Catalina, we had a great stay.

Breath-taking view
Arrived late afternoon to be greeted by a beautiful Vista of the Bay that was only surpassed by sunrise. The accommodation is very comfortable and luxurious. The host was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Fresh fruit for the room was in abundance and the breakfast was delicious. Should have booked for longer.

GREAT END TO OUR HOLIDAY IN NEW ZEALAND
This was a lovely place to stay. The views are even better than in the photographs. Peace and quiet but still close to town. There is a steep hill to climb to the property but it’s easy to drive up and the views are worth it. There are only three rooms each with beautiful views. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly. We particularly appreciated it that when our flight from Blenheim was delayed which meant we did not arrive until almost midnight Peter was very understanding and waited up to let us in. There was a good choice of delicious breakfasts and the property was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We would not hesitate to highly recommend a stay here.

TARLTONS LODGE WAS THE MOST AMAZING PLACE TO STAY FOR MY DAUGHTER AND I. THE HOSTS WERE SO GENEROUS AND WARM
The room was fabulous with a view overlooking Russell and the Bay of Islands. Breakfast was love on a table. So beautifully presented and tasted fabulous. The room was cleaned each day and spa was sparkling clean. My daughter Poppy and I would go back tomorrow and really wished we had more time to stay longer. The bed was the best. King sized and so comfortable. 10 out of 10
